Kristi Clayson

Kristi and her husband Ryan live in Otsego, MN. Kristi works as a dispatcher for Luther Auto, and Ryan works as a learning advisor for Allianz Life Insurance. They have 3 fur babies that say meow.

They have been members of the NCRS and North Central Chapter since 2019. They were encouraged to join after meeting Kevin Sullivan at a random car show in a Home Depot parking lot in Plymouth, MN, and talking about how we both had ‘61’s. We have had a lot of fun meeting members and learning more about what we
have, attending tech sessions, social events and traveling to judging meets held by other chapters.

Besides the rare exterior color combo and no soft top, their Corvette and family has a great history and story to share. Originally published in Vette Vues Magazine, their story was recently shared again and we thought it was
worthy of including it here so our members, and other Corvette enthusiasts could also enjoy it! Check out and enjoy this inspiring article by clicking HERE.

Cruising Through Time: A Journey of Love, Family, and Classic Cars
In the world of classic cars and cherished memories, one man’s journey stands out as a testament to the enduring power of passion, family, and nostalgia. At 62, this enthusiast’s life is a tapestry woven with the threads of high school romance, family bonds, and a love affair with vintage automobiles.

High School Sweethearts and Family Ties
It all began in 1980, when Dale met Jodi, his high school sweetheart. Their love story is amazing, a partnership that has weathered life’s storms and celebrated its triumphs. Together, they have built a family that includes a son, Dylan, now 36,
and a daughter, Hannah, 34. The family tree has grown with the addition of two grandchildren: James (10) and Ezra (6). Beyond the warmth of family gatherings, Dale finds solace in the quiet pursuit of collecting vintage fishing lures, but when the call of the open road beckons, he answers it astride his Harley, or with a fishing rod in hand, seeking the tranquility of nature.

Corvette Chronicles: A Love Affair with Classic Cars
His love for classic cars is a legacy passed down from his late father, with whom he shared countless car shows and museum visits. Even as dementia clouded his father’s later years, the gleam of old cars never failed to ignite a spark of joy.
Among the many cars he’s owned, his heart has always belonged to the Corvette. His first, an ’81 Alpine White with blue interior. With headers, side pipes, and a performance cam, he transformed it into a masterpiece, reupholstering seats and laying new carpet with meticulous care.

Dale wanted a C2 for over 40 years. Today his pride and joy is a ’66 Nassau Blue convertible. This C2 Corvette, with matching numbers and a storied past, boasts factory side pipes, upgraded rear end, knock off wheels, and tinted windows. Its original leather seats and floor mats speak to its authenticity, a testament to the era it hails from.

A Legacy of Memories and Dreams
His collection of classic cars reads like a who’s who of automotive history: two ’69 Mustangs, two ’65 Impalas, a ’64 Impala, a ’67 Chevelle, a ’68 Cutlass, a ’71 Camaro, a ’73 El Camino, and a host of others. Yet, the Corvette remains his first love, followed closely by the first-generation Camaro.

The journey to owning his dream Corvette at 55 was paved with dedication and sacrifice. The ’66 C2 convertible, once the centerpiece of a showroom, required tender care to overcome years of neglect. Though its history remains largely a mystery, the NCRS sticker on the passenger vent window hints at its storied past.
As he reflects back, he sees a tapestry rich with family, adventure, and the meless allure of classic cars. It’s a journey that continues to unfold, one mile at a time, with the roar of the engine and the whisper of memories guiding him and his family forward.
